Tip: Be sure the information is specific.

2.       II Explain the effects of the problem. This is looking to the future.
a.       What is happening now because of the problem?
b.      What will happen if the problem is not addressed?
c.       What are the dangers of not solving the problem?

2.       Please include:

3.     III  Call for action! What steps can be taken to solve the problem?

b.      Admit that there are other possible solutions, but focus on why your solution is the best. (Remember the deer hunting essay.)
c.       Remember that readers are concerned about time and money when it comes to solving problems.
d.      The solutions must be possible and realistic.
For example, if you suggest recycling, explain how effortless the process can be.

Tips:

Be sure to:

1.       Use in-text citations. Use MLA formatting.
2.       Place all in-text citation sources on the Works Cited page.Make sure there are no extra sources on the Works Cited page.

3.       Pay attention to the grammar, usage, and mechanics. Run spell and grammar check.

You are now ready to continue with your research.

For the time remaining, conduct research. As you research, you will discover articles, videos, and  interviews that addesss the definition of the problem, the causes, and possible solutions. Be sure to note what information goes where. Consider interviewing a classmate or two to gain insight into your essay.

Segment I: Work on Part I of the essay.
  • Keep track of your sources as the paper must follow MLA formatting and include in-text citations and a Works Cited page.
  • At the end of the time, Post a summary of what you found in CANVAS. (20 points. ) If you wish, just take notes and post those.
Segment 2: Work on Part II - Effects

Segment 3: Work on Part III - Call for action.

Post the draft in CANVAS by the beginning of class on Friday - 9:00 am. Be on time.

We will begin with a peer editing activity and follow with time to revise and post.

There will be sharing of the topics from 10:15-11:45. Be ready to share the key points of the essay. (Each person will have 2 minutes.) Call us to action!
